Chloé Nile Bag

This Chloé Nile bag has been my go-to bag this summer. Now that I’ve had a chance to wear it for almost a full season, I am ready to review it!

I fell in love with this bag the moment I saw a photo of it. The saddle shape, together with the flashy gold ring, creates a fancy bohemian vibe. When held by the ring handle, the silhouette is so unique! I chose an off white color that goes with everything but it comes in many different colors.

It also comes in three sizes. Mine is the small, which comfortably fits a small wallet, phone, keys and lipstick. I can also squeeze in a pair of small sunglasses in a soft case. (Not so much for my statement sunnies in a larger protective case.) If you tend to carry more, the medium size looks a lot roomier for a little more money. There’s even a smaller version in a size and shape that is perfect for a stylish evening bag.

My favorite thing about this bag is its versatility. For everyday, I wear it casually as a crossbody bag. I need to be hands-free for running errands or hanging out with my little boys. When I need to dress up, I detach the straps and clutch the ring handle for a more polished style (example here). There aren’t very many bags that can transition so seamlessly from day to night. This one gets the job done with plenty of style!

My final thought is that the price point is good for the style and quality that you get. I find that Chloé bags are big on style and the quality is often better than bags from other fancy brands that are twice as expensive. If you decide to splurge on this bag, I am confident that you won’t regret it!

Flowers and Feathers

Big thanks to all my friends whose kind words made me feel so much better! Parenting is harder than I ever imagined and it helps to be surrounded by people who (1) understand and (2) love you. Lots of them!

My older son Lucas goes back to school (1st grade) tomorrow. Finally!!! He’s a bundle of energy and keeping him busy without resorting to the iPad has been a challenge all summer long. I have been schlepping him to camps, parks, museums and tourist attractions for months. Just yesterday, we walked up and down Hollywood Blvd. in 90 degree weather hunting for Pokémon. And I have large blisters on my heels to show for it. I also caved and bought a giant trampoline for future days of leisure. I wish I had bought the trampoline earlier this summer. You live and you learn.

He is squirming around right next to me as I write this so I gotta go. All I have to say about this look is that feminine florals are always fabulous and feather sandals are new favorites for me (crushing on these too). To the library we go!

Fringe and Overalls (and SPD)

The weather heats up in LA this week but I have fall fashion on my mind! This fringe sweater is the perfect transitional piece. I am wearing it with denim short shorts right now and planning to wear it with mom jeans and booties when the leaves change color (do they in LA??). I have a weakness for overalls. Really, I don’t need another pair but I couldn’t resist the fit of these sexy overalls. They add oomph to a basic tee. With a slouchy sweater and heels, they’re perfect for a casual night out!

I write about fashion but there is a lot going on behind the scenes of my life. As you know, I am mom to two yummy little boys. They happen to be very spirited children, which is no surprise because my husband and I are both spirited people. On top of all that spirit, my youngest has sensory processing disorder (SPD) and I suspect he’s on the autism spectrum. These are conditions that I am learning about every day and we are doing our best to give him the special care that he needs. But wow, I am exhausted. Parenting is a hard job and the added challenges of raising a special needs kid can be overwhelming at times. I had a full blown meltdown the other day, heaving sobs and all!

I wanted to open up to you guys a little more. Talking about overalls and cute shoes is what I do to escape but it’s not what my life is about. If I can be a resource to anyone who feels lonely parenting a spirited, possibly autistic child with sensory processing disorder (or any one of these), shoot me an e-mail and you’ve got a friend on your side! One day, I hope to be able to share my parenting stories (and challenges) on this blog because that’s where my heart really is.

Many thanks for sticking with me through these times! I wish everyone a wonderful week. :)

Can you tell my favorite color to wear is red? Red is so bold in a beautiful way! The color of this dress might be the most perfect red I’ve seen (designer color “lipstick”). It’s a vibrant shade that is not too yellow or blue. If you’re looking for a cocktail dress, this one looks like a total stunner. It might be perfect for a moms’ Vegas trip that we have planned to see the Magic Mike show. Yep, we’re those kinda moms! ;) So let’s talk about the boots. I mean, come on! It’s not the kind of thing you’re going to wear every day but for $90, it’s a must have if you’re a gal who loves daring fashion (and who loves red). Add retro sunglasses in my favorite color and this might be one of the most fun outfits I’ve worn in awhile.

This summer has been a busy one for me. So busy that I had days when I thought about quitting this blog altogether. I truly love exploring and sharing fashion and I am so proud of the content that I create here because I do it with all my heart but it takes away from family time for sure. I have so much more to share but I need to take a break. I will be back on August 28 with the cutest overalls you’ve ever seen. Stay tuned!

Sun Wrap

Long Sun Wrap from Idlebird c/o
Nanette Lepore Antigua Swimsuit | Nannacay Bag | Loeffler Randall Vera Slides

Sun protection is a big priority for me. My boys can spend hours playing at the park or beach and they don’t seem to mind the blazing rays. As a mom, I’m constantly chasing them around with hats and sunblock, making sure that we’re always playing safely. Especially in LA, where the sun shines brightly on most days, we have to stock up on our sun protection gear.

I’m so happy to find this beautiful sun wrap from Idlebird! The wrap is versatile and can be tied into a stylish maxi skirt or dress, strapless or toga style. I can also use it as a cape to cover my shoulders when I’m watching my boys practice soccer in an open field. My favorite part about the wrap is the fabric. The fabric is lightweight, quick drying sun protection material that is similar to the fabric of swimwear. Because of the style, I can wear it for so many more activities than just swimming. You can bet I’m going to stash it in my tote bag for all my outdoor outings.

In addition to the wrap, Idlebird’s collection includes dresses, tops, pants and other clothing items that can be worn at the pool, beach or just out and about under the wonderful sun. Latest collection is here.

Big thanks to Idlebird for sponsoring this post. As always, all opinions are my own.
