Falling for Velvet

If you can buy only one new thing to wear this fall, it’s velvet.

Velvet is the most glamorous fabric I can think of. It’s been a big trend every fall in recent years and it’s still going strong! Everywhere I look, there is a beautiful velvety thing to buy. Like this dress, these sandals, this blazer, this bodysuit and these loafers. And this bag! And this bag! It’s seriously endless. But I’m not complaining because I plan to wear it all, which is exactly what happened in this outfit.

This velvet dress is a glorious thing to wear to holiday parties. The plunging neckline is sexy while the dramatic ruffles are romantic. The fabric is sumptuous and the blue is so lovely! I would say that the look is mostly modest with just enough daring details to let people know that I am not afraid to show a little skin. Even when I’m a mom. Even when I’m pushing forty. ;)

I might have already mentioned how much I love the handbags from Staud (yup, here). This velvet bag is my third handbag from this brand in recent months and I still can’t get over how much style and quality you get for your money. Dusty rose is the prettiest neutral and it’s a sweet alternative to a clutch for dressy outfits.

Finally, I have to talk about these sandals. I wasn’t at all interested in buying a pair of sandals for fall. But I had to! The combination of velvet with pearls and crystals and the coolest heel I’ve seen in a long time was just too irresistible for me. I would say, fashion kryptonite.
