Fringe and Overalls (and SPD)

English Factory Fringe Sweater | Free People Overalls
Simon Miller Bonsai Bag (mini) | Aquazzura Sandals (splurge, save)
Modern Weaving Moon Dancer Earrings (save, love) | Super Sunglasses

The weather heats up in LA this week but I have fall fashion on my mind! This fringe sweater is the perfect transitional piece. I am wearing it with denim short shorts right now and planning to wear it with mom jeans and booties when the leaves change color (do they in LA??). I have a weakness for overalls. Really, I don’t need another pair but I couldn’t resist the fit of these sexy overalls. They add oomph to a basic tee. With a slouchy sweater and heels, they’re perfect for a casual night out!

I write about fashion but there is a lot going on behind the scenes of my life. As you know, I am mom to two yummy little boys. They happen to be very spirited children, which is no surprise because my husband and I are both spirited people. On top of all that spirit, my youngest has sensory processing disorder (SPD) and I suspect he’s on the autism spectrum. These are conditions that I am learning about every day and we are doing our best to give him the special care that he needs. But wow, I am exhausted. Parenting is a hard job and the added challenges of raising a special needs kid can be overwhelming at times. I had a full blown meltdown the other day, heaving sobs and all!

I wanted to open up to you guys a little more. Talking about overalls and cute shoes is what I do to escape but it’s not what my life is about. If I can be a resource to anyone who feels lonely parenting a spirited, possibly autistic child with sensory processing disorder (or any one of these), shoot me an e-mail and you’ve got a friend on your side! One day, I hope to be able to share my parenting stories (and challenges) on this blog because that’s where my heart really is.

Many thanks for sticking with me through these times! I wish everyone a wonderful week. :)
