Chartreuse is a gorgeous color to wear but it’s not very common to find. So I was happy to find this bow blouse on sale! It’s elegant and ladylike and looks romantic with delicious, wine-colored velvet. Velvet has been a huge trend this season and I hope it doesn’t go away anytime soon. Velvet blazers, pants and suits have been favorites to wear because they are easily glamorous and instantly luxurious. The same goes for velvet heels, even small ones that are so manageable to wear for everyday activities!
This look is a stir fry of a few fashion trends that are popular at the moment – slip dress, turtleneck layering, fishnet tights, sequins and skate sneakers. I threw them all together and voila! A slip dress is elegant in a sexy way and this satin one is glamorous too. One of my favorite fashion trends this season is to layer turtlenecks under dresses. It’s a stylish and practical way to transition summer dresses into fall and winter! This turtleneck is an absolute must have for your closet. It’s light, comfortable and figure flattering. The size I am wearing is petite XXS and I suggest you size down too for a sexy clinging fit. It can be dressed up or down and worn alone or under sweaters and dresses. I love it so much that I bought it in both black and burgundy (worn here).
When it comes to fashion, I’m a fan of the 80’s and 90’s. I adore fishnet tights and skate sneakers and love adding them to dressy looks for an element of edgy and fun. I also layered on a sequin skirt because it never hurts to add some sparkle too. ;)
I picked up this standout sweater from Zaful! The chenille is soft and cozy and the teal color brightens up the rainy days we’ve been having in LA. It comes in only one size but I think the generously stretchy fabric will flatter most gals. I love that it’s slouchy and can be worn off the shoulder for date night. It can also be worn backwards if you don’t want to show any skin in the tummy area (if you do, toss your hair up to show off the back details!). Normally, I’m conscious of my tummy area but one trick that I use to wear cropped tops is to pair them with high-waisted bottoms. These jeans were a splurge but they’re the perfect high-waisted, slim mom jeans in the most comfortable fabric.
I received these knee boots as a birthday gift from my girlfriends and have been waiting patiently for the rains to clear so that I can wear them. The suede is yummy and the 2 inch heels are stylish yet practical to wear on outings with my wild little boys (they’re 6 and 3!).
I’ve worn several things from Zaful and have loved them all (see here, here and here). It’s a thrill for me to find inexpensive, fashion forward clothing that can be mixed seamlessly with my designer stuff. And I’ve had great results with all my items from Zaful!
Big thanks to Zaful for sponsoring this post! All opinions are my own honest impressions.
Black velvet pants have become a closet staple for me. They’re a dressier alternative to plain black pants and pair perfectly with silks, sequins and other fancy fabrics. The sequins on this cold shoulder top look sparkly and silver but they’re actually a combination of matte black and white. I prefer the modern look of these sequins and think the top is a unique and elegant choice for a dressy occasion.
Our family began the new year by being snowed in at Mammoth Lakes and we had a blast! There was so much snow that our cars were completely buried under a powdery pile. It took hours of shoveling by my poor husband and brother-in-law to set them free. On our last day, we made it out to the mountain for an epic day of snowboarding and it was one of the best snow days I’ve had in years!
One thing that I learned from running this blog is that if you love fashion, you don’t need a grand reason to dress up. Dressing up and feeling good about expressing one aspect of your best self is a positive, creative experience that we should do more often. It’s just another way to add more beauty to this world.
I want to start the new year by thanking you for your love and friendship and…. taking a little break. I’m off this week to make new memories with my family in the snow and will be back on January 9th.
