There’s a french maid vibe going on with this dress but I love it anyway! The bows and ruffles and bright white color are just so sweet. To keep things from getting too girly, I added a silky bomber, which might be the coolest thing in my closet at the moment, a smart looking satchel and minimal sandals.
This little bow choker is turning out to be a versatile, wear-everywhere accessory. It adds the perfect finishing touch to dressy and casual outfits alike and feels very trendy in an effortless way. It’s pricey for what it is (and if I were in my teens, I’d visit the fabric store and make it myself) but I wear it so often that I think it’s worth the money.
Another day, another floral dress (I wasn’t kidding about my obsession with florals lately!). The colors and print on this dress are beautiful and the wrap style with the bell sleeves is a conservative yet figure flattering shape. This dress is what I would call a brunch to dinner dress. For brunch, I would add casual sandals (or clogs) and a bucket bag and for dinner, I would dress it up with heels and a fancy bag. The bow choker works both ways.
I’m channeling a summer garden in this floral blouse, floral jeans and little bee. I was initially unsure about mom jeans but after trying on this pair (and this pair), I’m totally on board! The fit is high waisted, slightly slouchy and tapered at the ankles. Somehow, they work to create a look that is sexy-cute in a retro way. I love wearing my block heel mules for a pop of red but for casual outings, I like to switch out the heels for ruby red ballet flats and add a backpack for when I need to carry my babies (my boys are 2.5 and almost 6 and yes, I still carry them). The ballet flats are comfortable, beautifully made and fold up easily to fit inside my handbags, even the small crossbody ones.
The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale opens to the public on Friday and I’ve linked a few more of my favorites below. Happy shopping everyone!
The color wheel is a marvelous thing and chartreuse is one of my favorite spots on the wheel (so is marigold). In addition to the fresh color, I love the ruffles on this jumpsuit – so dramatic and attention grabbing! I am finding that jumpsuits are a great way to dress up in a modern way. For the rest of the look, I added clean lines with a moon shaped clutch and caged heels and kept things minimal with a delicate brooch and simple bangle that sparkle in a subtle way.
This summer has been whizzing by and we’ve been having so much fun meeting friends for outdoor movies (if you haven’t tried, you MUST check out this and this), ice cream excursions (so creamy) and dinner dates at trendy restaurants (recently loved our experience here). We’re hoping to add to our calendar more trips to the zoo, seafood feasts at the beach and general shenanigans with our friends and family for a well rounded summer. ;)
Can you tell I’m excited about the 90’s trends? Floral bomber and bow choker, yes please! I love that they add a modern vibe to a very girly, very fluffy pink prom dress. I’ve never stepped into a ballet studio but I love wearing tulle! (see here, here and here) Tulle is the epitome of girly and fun and I think that when it comes to fashion, that’s where I feel most at home.
